About Us
Mission Statement
The Oregon Faith Roundtable Against Hunger seeks to engage diverse religious communities throughout the state, including direct service agencies, in order to develop solutions to the root causes of hunger through education and public policy advocacy.
Strategies
- We convene conversations to learn from each other and to probe the questions we share.
- We host consultations to connect with our neighbors who are hungry and with research organizations to broaden our understanding of the root causes of hunger
- As members of religious communities, we are called to encourage commitments from congregations, organizations, and individuals to advocate for, and work toward solutions to the root causes of hunger.
How We Are Organized
- Statewide Conveners – Their names and email addresses are found here. Contact them with your interest. They assist in developing Local Roundtables, prepare the legislative recommendations, prepare the advocacy alerts, and host the annual Harvest of Hope Breakfast. The Breakfast features prominent advocates for the Hungry as Keynoters and the organization conveys the Harvest of Hope Awards to individuals and organizations who have had a significant impact on hunger in Oregon.
- Local Roundtables – They are led by a local group of Conveners who plan educational programs and local events. Advocacy is an important activity at all gatherings. Local events are hosted by Roundtables to focus on education and advocacy.
- Membership – Members are individual Hunger Advocates and Leaders, Congregations, Denominations, Communities of Faith and Direct Service organizations. There are no dues. Contact any of the Conveners for more information.
